First task was to install a new heating system to replace the old fuel oil furnance. Working with my brother John we hoped to install a geothermal system but the high cost of drilling the bores for the loops and going the first winter without the new insulation in the building forced us to install super efficent air to air heat pumps.
Another study was done to determine the cost differences between the Geothermal and Air to air heat pump systems. Results showed the air to air system could provide equilivant heating for about 200 more each year in electricity.
So out with the old underground fuel tank (leaking) and furnace. Our local well drilling company owner - John - removed the tank and hauled it away for $300 - deal of the year. Then two new heat pumps were orderd and with the help of Bob, Jay and John we got them in and running.
